Visit the Phare de la Coubre

Just 10 minutes from Camping Paradis Royan, come and admire the sublime panoramic view from the top of the 64-metre high Curve lighthouse, which can be visited from February to November! Come and immerse yourself in thehistory of this lighthouse, built in 1905 and originally situated 2km from the shore, but as erosion continues it is now only a few hundred metres from the sea!

What’s more, it’s one of the most powerful lighthouses in France, with a range of over 50 km. A 300-step spiral staircase offers splendid panoramic views of the Gironde estuary, Cordouan lighthouse, Pointe de Grave, Gironde coast, Côte Sauvage, Arvert peninsula and, further north, Oléron island. At 64 metres high, the lighthouse overlooks the Bay of Bonne Anse on the Atlantic coast, offering visitors a 360° view of the Gironde estuary! Lighthouse and Dune Ecomuseum

Built in 1905 and listed as a historic monument, La Coubre lighthouse is the highest lighthouse on the Charente coast, with some 300 steps.

Since its centenary, it has housed an eco-museum retracing the life of lighthouses in the Gironde estuary: 4 rooms devoted to bronze and crystal optics, souvenir objects, images by numerous illustrators and engravers, temporary exhibitions…
