Probably the most scenic of these is the Sentier des Douaniers (GR4). From the Nauzan beach in Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, this 3.5 km course, accessible to children, offers magnificent views of the Côte de Beauté, the Gironde estuary and the famous Cordouan lighthouse. Along the way, you’ll come across many breathtaking natural formations and interesting sites such as Les Carrelets, the Terre Nègre lighthouse, the Devil’s Bridge, the Auture well and the legendary Rochers. Hiking enthusiasts will find other marked trails from the Grande Côte parking lot (forest circuit, 12.5 km) and in the Coubre forest.

From Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, you can also enjoy the pleasures of cycling in complete safety, thanks to the cycle paths that wind their way between forest and ocean. Put on your helmet, hop on your bike and head for Tremblade-Ronce-les-Bains, a seaside resort around 30 km from Saint-Palais.
